The Meili Snow Mountain
The Deqin section of Nushan Mountain Chain is called Meili Snow
Mountain, meaning Medicine Mountain in Tibetan Language. In the
mountain, there are plenty of rare medicinal plants. Among hundreds
of peaks, 27 peaks are over 5,000 meters above sea level and 6 peaks
excess 6,000 meters above sea level. The main peak, Kawagebo, with
an altitude of 6,740 meters above sea level, is regarded as one
of eight holy mountains in Tibetan region. The nearby Miancimu Peak
(Sea Goddess Peak) is standing gracefully just like the wife of
Kawagebo.

The Gadan Songzanlin Lamasery
The Gadan Songzanlin Lamasery is 5 km away from Shangri-La. It is
the largest Tibetan Buddhist lamasery in Yunnan Province and also
one of the 13 famous monasteries in Tibetan Kham. The lamasery was
built in 1674 under the Emperor Kangxi ¡®s authorization after the
Fifth Dalai Lama sent a report to him, and was granted the name
Gadan Songzanlin Lamasery. The Emperor Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty
bestowed a Chinese name called Guihua Lamasery. With an area of
about 500 mu (about 33.3 hectares), the lamasery was built in the
pattern of the Potala Palace in Lhasa and is abundant in precious
cultural relics.

The Shudu Lake
Located at 35 kilometers away from the northeast of the county seat,
it has an alias of Dangquka that means a place to fish by stick.
It is teemed with special fish named Shudu Schizothorax and mallards
and wild yellow ducks. In addition to the plenty of fish in the
lake, musk deer and muntjaks are frequently seen companied with
shepherded flocks on the land.
Characteristics: hiking in the forest, enjoying
the beautiful morning mist in autumn.

The Napa Lake
In Tibetan, the name means a lake behind the forest. During the
rainy season, the lake widens and the footpath  is
submerged, while during the drought season, the shrinking marshland
becomes the natural pasture. In summer the sheldrakes and bar-headed
geese dwell on the lake while the black-necked cranes gather here
to spend winter.

The Pottery Handcraft
As a necessity to local people, the earthenware produced in Nixi
Township of Shangri-La County has a long history. The food cooked
in terrine remains delicious taste and alluring color, especially
the timeworn utensil may endow the food with special flavor.

The Birang Valley
It is located at the foot of Minor Snow Mountain in Gezan Township
of Shangri-La County, where stretched westward to Shangqiaotou Village
of Nixi with a length of 120 km and a width of 50 ¨C 80 meters. It
has distinctive difference of temperature between Blue Moon Valley
and Sun Valley. There are  various
beautiful sceneries as Yixiantian, Ape-man Cave, Moon-Watching Platform
and Three-sister peak as well as cliff painting engraved by ancestors.
Characteristics: Horse-riding in the valley and
enjoying the landscape of cliff and river.

The White Water Terrace
It is situated in Baidi Village, Sanba District, 101 km from the
seat of Shangri-La County, with an elevation of 2,380 meters. As
one of the largest white tosca terraces in China, the karst relief
of White Water Terrace enjoys a reputation of God ¨C Sent Field.
It is said that the Queen Mother in the Heaven accidentally upset
a milk jar of the prince imperial and the milk of the overturned
jar became the White Water Terrace. As the goddess was unwilling
to take back the overturned milk jar, she was punished to become
a stone figure against the mountain.
Characteristics: As the birthplace of Dongba Culture
of Naxi people, here, the exotic tradition can be enjoyed and the
Haba Snow Mountain can be overlooked as well.

The Tiger Leaping Gorge
It is located in Yongsheng Village, 8 km from Qiaotou. The gorge
is divided into three sections (the upper part, the middle part
and the lower part) with a length of 20 km and a drop height of
213 meters. There are 18 perilous shoals situated between Jade Dragon
Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain with an elevation drop of 3,900
meters. The narrowest part of the river is just over 20 meters wide
and the Tiger Leaping Gorge is named  after the tiger leaping rock
(a gigantic 13 meters high rock) in the middle of the river, where
a supernatural tiger can leap over the river between two snow-covered
mountains by stopping at the rock.

The Shika Snow Mountain
It is 7 km away from the seat of Shangri-La County with an area
of some 50 square kilometers. By two aerial cable cars, the visitors
shall get to the peak of Shika Snow Mountain,  4,449 meters above
sea level, where they can overlook the panorama of scenic spots
and the remote famous Snow Mountain as Meili, Jade Dragon, Haba
and Daocheng of Sichuan for enjoying the wonderful scenery.

Natural Bridge Thermal Spring
A natural limestone bridge with lofty body and natural stone fences
lies 10 km away from the east of Shangri-La County, across which
the Shuodugang River is flushing from east to west through the underground
cave. As the bridge looks like a lying dragon with a number of pouring
thermal springs under it, it is named as Living Stone Dragon. According
to the legend, Mu, magistrate of Lijiang, had hidden his lifetime
valuables there just before he died. The local Tibetan people have
a habitude to gather here with their families for taking a hot spring
bath, so it is also known as Bathing Gathering.
